I wanted to share and travel journal on a day trip I took to San Francisco earlier in the month of February of 2023 with another FA friend.
This was a very spontaneous trip, I had planned it out the night before while making dinner with perhaps a beer in a half, I had texted my friend asking if she wanted to join me on a day trip to San Francisco.

Thankfully she said yes and the flight was open for us to get on and we then met up at the gate at 5:30 in the morning.
We started the morning with Starbucks and got a few ideas while sitting at the gate on what we should do for the day.

I have been to San Francisco multiple times. It’s one of my favorite cities. Living all those years ago in Monterey and then in Pleasanton I have had plenty of times for day trips. My friend K had never been before so I decided for us to start at the Golden Gate Bridge and make our way through. Hopefully stopping at coffee shops and a good Chinese or Japanese restaurant.
(Side note, the good Asian food didn’t happen.)

We took the train from the airport to Balboa Park. From Balboa park we took the bus the The Golden Gate Bridge Park. We were dropped off right in the parking lot of the visitor center.

From here it was bathroom, visitor center, pictures and then coffee at Round House then off to the bridge. We decided to go ahead and walk a portion of the bridge because why not?

After the bridge we walked back through the Golden Gate Park where we then got city bike to rent to get us around a little quicker.

We started making our way towards Lombard St. peddling up hill, thankfully on assist bikes that ended up loosing their juice so some of it was walking it up. Haha.

Through out this whole journey we were trying to find a place for lunch. Which were all dumpling places I was wanting to try out. They were all sadly closed. We did stop somewhere random for another coffee and to try to recharge our phones. There was no where to charge up so we found a library and went in to charge. Thank goodness for libraries.

This is not the first time where a library of some sort has rescued me from an almost dead phone battery. You can fill up your water bottle, go to the bathroom and charge your phone all while having a little quiet from the city and maybe even cooling off a bit. Of course libraries have books and one could spend an entire day traveling just inside of any library.

We found the library somewhere around Chinatown where we then found ourselves meandering our way through Union Square where we eventually picked up a city bus that took us over to the Fillmore District to then walk over to the Painted Ladies at Alamo Square. We then of course got our pictures. After our photos and videos we under up grabbing a very late lunch on Divisadero St for something to go. Which ended up being more Mediterranean than dumplings. You win some you lose some.

Getting back to the airport we took 1 bus and then got on the train to the airport. We made it with time to finally time to eat our late lunch. We then waited for our names to be called for a seat like any good non-revs.

There is obviously so much to do in San Francisco. Every trip is always different and it really just depends on what you are wanting to do. San Francisco still is one of my favorite cities. Thank you to Kendall for going along with my very last minute day trip idea. Sometimes a glass of wine at 9 pm will make you do some crazy ideas. And this post is very much a year over due.
I hope you enjoyed this post. Keep coming back I have a lot more for you as well.
With love,
Jess
